Afterschool Art Classes

Afterschool art classes introduce students to fine art media such as acrylic paint, watercolor, charcoal, ink, graphite and much more. Each lesson introduces students to a new artist like Gustav Klimt, Georgia O’Keeffe, Horace Pippin, Michelangelo, Amy Sherald, or a new concept such as perspective, composition, and light/shadow. Students will improve their skills in drawing and painting as well as enrich their love of art and art history. Afterschool classes meet Thursdays. Oil painting classes for ages 11 - 18 meet Wednesdays. See Young Artist Studio page for more information.

Beatrix Potter BookMaking

with Sarah

Students will begin by crafting a handmade journal using materials such as embroidery thread, needles, and fabric. Observational watercolor painting will help students create their own stories featuring animal characters.Throughout the session, new watercolor and illustration techniques will be introduced.

this Class can be taken for the full 8 weeks or in a 4 consecutive class block.

Art history inspired/ materials re-interpreted/ kid re-imagined

Let’s dive into Wayne Thiebaud’s cakes, Marisol Escobar’s 3d self portraits, O’keefe’s cloud paintings, Hilma Af Kint’s swirling abstractions, Joseph Alber’s leaf studies, Judith Scott’s fiber sculptures, Paul Klee’s watercolors, Keith Haring’s figures in movement together.

This class can be taken as a drop-in: $50 per class or as a group $200 for 4 weeks, or $390 for all 8 weeks

• "no call, no show" is non-refundable and non-transferable. 

• Late pick up fee of $10 will be charged for late pick up of 10 minutes or more, two or more times during a session. Please call or text the studio if you’re running late.
